Vern Christensen, DPM, MPA
Vern Christensen, DPM, MPA provides the full range of medical and surgical care for injuries and health conditions affecting the foot and ankle. At Foot Specialists of Mississippi, men, women, and children will receive top-quality diagnostic, medical, and surgical care for all problems that affect their feet and ankles. Should their symptoms persist or they have a condition that needs surgical repair or reconstruction, they can confidently rely on his surgical expertise.
Dr. Christensen graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah. He went on to receive a Master of Public Administration with a specialization in Business-Government Relations in Health Care from the Marriott School of Management at BYU. From there, he obtained his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami, Florida.
During his time as a medical student, Dr. Christensen was elected president of the Florida Podiatric Medical Student Association and received numerous leadership awards for his service. After graduating with honors, he completed his podiatric surgical residency at Florida Hospital in Orlando.
Board certified in both podiatric surgery and wound care, Dr. Christensen specializes in all aspects of medical and surgical treatment of the foot. His areas of interest include sports medicine, limb preservation, reconstructive surgery and minimal incision surgery.
Dr. Christensen is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, the American Society of Podiatric Surgeons, the American Professional Wound Care Association, and the American Academy of Wound Management.
He also maintains active memberships with the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Mississippi Podiatric Medical Association. In 2014, Dr. Christensen was elected president of the Mississippi Podiatric Medical Association where he had the opportunity to meet with Governor Phil Bryant to discuss diabetes in Mississippi and the role of podiatrists in treating diabetic patients.
Practicing all over in the Northern Mississippi area since 1998, Dr. Christensen enjoys volunteering and contributing to the local community. He’s married with three children, and his personal life is filled with family, church, and sporting activities.
